Art: Ghost in a Cave.

A pink ghost figure in the middle of a dark water cave with boulders on each side. Waterline at bottom-third, with reflections below.

Was surprised how much all the darkness reduced the filesize.

A lot of this was trying Krita’s multi-brush tool and letting it self-develop. Multi-brush lets you select the brush and settings for the brush you want, but have it paint multiple strokes for the input, whether mirroring them or translating them to a different part of the canvas. I hope to find cool ways to use it in future works.

It was one of the tools I hadn’t used before, so it was good to at least learn a little more.

In terms of the image, I drew the background first, and it had a cavelike feel, so I added the water to give it some more depth. In the background stuff I was reusing some color variation settings on the brush, so I tried it and came up with a hooded-figure shape so I decided to turn that into a ghost. I added the boulders to fill out the middle-ground, and then decided I wanted some shadowing, so I added the darkness. I ended up cropping most of the image out, in order to give it a better framing. Ah well, at least it’s nice to look at.

I really do enjoy the sort of ice figures in the background, makes it feel like they’re more ghosts gathered around the pink ghost for a meeting or maybe even a party. Maybe the pink ghost is the DJ?
