America 249.

Happy Birthday, America. Register to vote today!

My country, ’tis of thee,

now facing tyranny,

of thee I scream:

They’ve cancelled sciences,

screwed up your finances,

ruined alliances.

See through their scheme!

My native country, thee,

recall our history:

import new seeds;

More workers build more homes,

fresh business, making loans,

adds lines to our poem.

It’s in our creed.

No more shall poor kids starve,

nor workers’ healthcare carve,

for rich tax cuts;

No more shall yachts and jets

burn down our safety net—

They think that we’ll forget?!

They sure are nuts!

Step out and feel the breeze,

wind turbine energies,

clean climate’s hope:

Let solar rays provide,

let trains give you a ride,

we’ll even tap the tides,

that’s climate’s soap.

In the old U-S-A,

time’s come for us to say:

Rebuild the dream!

Our future will be bright,

once tyrant’s said goodnight,

we’ll rise to a great height!

We’ll run full steam!
